Feasibility Study Extension of Phase II MRT Route Accelerated

The extension distance from Kota Station to the depot in Ancol Barat is around six kilometers

The city-owned transportation company PT MRT Jakarta is accelerating the work on feasibility study documents for the extension of the phase II route, starting from the Kota Station to the depot in Ancol Barat.

PT MRT Jakarta Construction Director Silvia Halim said the results of the feasibility study would be the basis of civil development and the estimated costs needed.

MRT Phase II Targets 500 Thousand Passengers Per Day

"The extension distance from Kota Station to the depot in Ancol Barat is around six kilometers. This feasibility study is expected to be completed in March next year," she expressed, Friday (12/27).

Meanwhile, the phase II route that has been set starts from the HI Roundabout Station to the Kota Station is 8.6 kilometers away with a total investment of Rp 22.5 trillion.

In the future, there will be three to four underground stations from Kota to Ancol Barat.

"This is important, as we have to explain the condition of the land at the seashore, whether the land must be drilled or not. Surely it will certainly have an impact on total costs," he explained.

Nevertheless he is optimistic that the consultant team can map all elements of the phase II extension route. Moreover they had already finished the basic engineering design (BED) of the phase II HI Roundabout - Kota some time ago.

Related to phase II, her party is still preparing for the auction of three civil works packages, namely CP-201, CP-202 and CP-203. For CP-201, the evaluation targets and the signing of the respective contracts will be done in February and March next year.

While CP 202-203 is still in procurement and there had been a problem thus his side had to repeat the tender. However, he remains optimistic that the auction process will be finished in quarter III/2020.

"If all work is on target, physical work will be finished by the end of 2024, thus phase II can operate commercially in 2025," he stated.
